The Kahoʻolawe Island Reserve Commission will host a Kakoʻo ia Kahoʻolawe Work Day this Saturday, May 23 from 8 a.m. to noon at its Kīhei boat house property.

The 8-acre parcel was designated to KIRC in 2002 as the future site of a Kahoʻolawe learning center.

Maui residents and visitors are encouraged to come and make an active contribution to the restoration of Kahoʻolawe by working on the walking trail and native plant nursery to propagate plants for Kahoʻolawe.

Complimentary lunch provided by the Vineyard Food Company is included for volunteers as program experts share knowledge of Kahoʻolawe restoration techniques and Hawaiian history.
