Insufficient staffing will result in the early closure this week of landfills in Hāna, and on the outer islands of Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi.
The Hāna landfill closes at 1 p.m. today. The Lānaʻi landfill closes at 1 p.m. everyday from today through June 6, and again on June 9, 2015. On Molokaʻi, the island’s landfill will close early at 1 p.m. this Saturday, June 6, 2015.
County officials say the closures are necessary to ensure safe operations that meet the minimum state Department of Health requirements of the county’s solid waste permit.
