Three People Displaced by Spreckelsville Home Fire

Three people were displaced after a fire broke out at a home on Ulupa Place in Spreckelsville last night.
The incident was reported at 7:21 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 by a female occupant who reported that she smelled smoke and heard popping sounds coming from the garage.
Fire officials say she called 9-1-1 and evacuated the home. Two other people living in the home were at a next door neighbor’s house at the time.
Firefighters from Pāʻia arrived on scene at 7:26 p.m. to find flames and smoke coming from the garage area of the single-story home. Crews had the fire under control by 8:03 p.m., and contained it to the garage area of the home.
As of 10 p.m. on Tuesday, firefighters were still on scene completing operations to extinguish the fire, and investigate the cause.
Maui Fire Services Officer Edward Taomoto said three people have been temporarily displaced and are staying with neighbors. Damages to the home were still being determined at last report.
Five fire companies and a water tanker from Pāʻia, Kahului, Makawao, and Wailuku responded to the incident.
