(Update: 1 p.m. 7/21/15) The road is now OPEN.
(Update: 9:49 a.m. 7/21/15) A motor vehicle crash damaged a fire hydrant and affected water service for Wailuku Town this morning. Department of Water Supply crews are on scene and expect to have the problem repaired by 1 p.m., according to an update issued by County officials. (more details below…)
As of 9:40 a.m., businesses along Main Street between Church Street and Market Street remained without water service. Other areas in Wailuku will have low water pressure until the repairs are completed, according to county officials. A memo issued for all county workers stated that the low water pressure had affected service at the Old Courthouse, Kalana O Maui and Kalana Pakua buildings, and that toilets were unlikely to flush while repairs are underway.
Uptown Chevron workers across the street from the fire hydrant said they saw a white sedan hit the hydrant this morning (Tuesday, July 21, 2015).

Main Street in Wailuku is closed at North Market Street due to a motor vehicle accident. Traffic spotters tell us there is also a water main break on Main Street near the Uptown Chevron gas station. Police say the road is temporarily closed in both directions. Motorists in the area can expect delays and are advised to use alternate routes.
