The Angels today announced they have acquired Shane Victorino in a trade with the the Red Sox.

The former Maui standout athlete and St. Anthony graduate signed a three-year, $39 million contract with the Red Sox in December of 2012.

With just months left on his Red Sox contract, the Angels picked up the 34-year-old outfielder in a deal that includes cash considerations in exchange for infielder Josh Rutledge.

Victorino’s career has spanned 12 Major League seasons with appearances at three World Series, and member of championship teams in 2008 with the Phillies, and 2013 with the Red Sox.

During the Red Sox 2013 World Series title run, he drove in the game-winning run in all three clinching games.

In a career that has included playing for the San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers and the Boston Red Sox, Victorino has hit 108 career home runs, batted 486 RBIs and stole 229 bases.

The native of Wailuku, Maui is batting .245 (23/94) with two doubles, one home run and four RBI in 33 games overall this season for Boston and has not committed an error since August 14, 2013, spanning 785.2 defensive innings, according to the Angles announcement.
