New SSW Expected Later This Weekend
Alerts
A Flash Flood Watch is posted through Saturday afternoon for all islands in Maui County. Saturated soils from recent rains are expected to increase the risk for flash flooding. Conditions will be favorable for heavy rainfall.
**Click directly on the images below to make them larger. Charts include: Maui County projected winds, tides, swell direction & period and expected wave heights.**
North: Wave heights are expected ankle/waist high today with many spots remaining pretty flat.
West: Wave heights ankle/knee high are expected. Spots shadowed by other islands will be even smaller or flat.
South: The fading south-southwest is expected to bring ankle/knee high waves today.
Jimena swell has dropped out completely and trade swell is all that we have in its wake. Otherwise, nothing much on the radar out of the NPAC.
Our current south-southwest is gradually fading out. A storm in the South Pacific is expected to send us another round of fun south-southwest swell starting Sunday, peaking Monday and Tuesday before beginning to fade on Wednesday.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
