An undetermined amount of sewage reportedly spilled near South Kīhei Road and St. Theresa’s Church in Kīhei on Saturday, Sept. 26, according to the State Department of Health.

The sewage reportedly entered a storm drain and the pond next to the church.

Warning signs have since been posted and water samples are being collected.

The public is advised to stay out of the pond area until warning signs have been removed.
