100 Men Who Care Maui Meeting Scheduled for Oct. 15

Wailuku resident and founder Keith Regan today announced that the next 100 Men Who Care Maui dinner meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Maverick Helicopters Maui and hosted by Edwin Alvarado and Kimokeo Kapahulehua.

The inaugural meeting on July 7 raised $4,400 in donations and received an additional $2,000, upping the total donation to $6,400 for the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center, the highest vote-getting nonprofit.

Paul Tonnessen, executive director of the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center, will share with the group how the funds were able to help them in their mission.

Inspired by other 100 Men Who Care and 100 Women Who Care groups throughout the world, including one on Maui, men on Maui joined forces to form 100 Men Who Care Maui in July 2015.

Its mission is simple: Bring together 100 men on Maui who care about local community causes. Then, four times a year, the group meets for an hour and jointly votes for a local charity or not-for-profit organization. Each member agrees to write a $100 check to the selected organization and watches how the group’s commitment turns into a $10,000 or more donation.

“We were very excited with the energy, support and commitment exhibited by the many community-minded men who attended our inaugural meeting,”said Regan. “We look forward to continuing the momentum and helping another worthy local non-profit do great things for our community.”

Men in the group are committed to helping others in our community, but are stretched for time. They want to be part of a powerful group of local men making an immediate, direct and positive effect on the lives of our neighbors. and want 100% of their donation to go directly to local charities.
