Looking Ahead
Light to moderate trade winds are expected until a disturbance moving over the islands starting Saturday weakens the trade winds and allows sea breezes to develop. This means afternoon clouds and showers are possible through early next week. The chase for locally heavy rain in the afternoon exists over the next couple of days. A front may move over the islands by the middle of next week with cool north winds behind it.
Weather models are showing Nora moving into the Central Pacific Saturday night and re-curving far southeast of the islands as the trough digs toward us. Still, we will keep an eye on this as it continues along its track.
Today and Sunday
This weekend we expect sunny skies in the morning with clouds building in the afternoon. Locally heavy rainfall is possible in the afternoon, especially for interior and leeward spots. High temperatures from 84° to 89°. Sea breezes are expected in the afternoon up to 10 mph.
UV index at 10 (“very high” exposure level)
Tonight and Sunday night
Land breezes are expected in the evening up to 10 mph. Low temperatures from 75° to 80°. Mostly cloudy skies are expected in the evening with scattered showers and locally heavy rainfall possible with clearing expected as the land breeze takes hold of the forecast and pushes our clouds back out to sea.
