1,700 Attend 42nd Annual Maui Senior Fair

An estimated 1,700 individuals participated in the 42nd Annual Maui County Senior Fair held Halloween morning at the War Memorial Gym in Wailuku.

The event was hosted by Maui Economic Opportunity, Inc., sponsored by the County of Maui Office on Aging, and funded by the Maui Department of Housing and Human Concerns.

The event featured performers Marlene Sai, Jimmy Borges and Brickwood Galuteria who are part of the Honolulu based Kupuna Power organization.  Also appearing on the entertainment lineup this year was Maui musician Willie K, Puʻu Wai, Pearl Rose, Judy’s Gang’s Kaunoa Seniors and friends and the Japanese Buyo Dancers.

“MEO is very thankful for the vendors, elected officials and those running for office for purchasing a booth and coming out to support our Kupuna,” said Debbie Cabebe, MEO Chief Programs Officer.  “MEO is also grateful for the entertainers, staff and volunteers. Without their support, this would not have been be possible,” she said.

Maui Economic Opportunity, Inc. was chartered in 1965, and operates as a private non-profit Community Action Agency. The current annual operating budget is $17 million dollars. MEO provides outreach and information, and administers human service programs to low-income persons, the youth, elderly, immigrants, ex-offenders, persons with disabilities and those with medical needs.
