Hale Kau Kau Hosts 13th Annual Golf Tournament, Nov. 28

Hale Kau Kau, a meal program for the hungry in South Maui, holds its 13th Annual Golf Tournament fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 with a shotgun start at 7 a.m. at the Wailea Blue Golf Course.
The entry fee is $500 for a four-person team or $150 for single players who will be paired. The fee includes a 6 a.m. brown bag breakfast, green fees, golf, auction, Mulligan’s corned beef and cabbage lunch, and awards and prizes, including a car donated by Maui Toyota for a hole in one on the 18th hole.

This year, in honor of Mulligan’s 13th anniversary, the team placing 13th will also be awarded a special prize. Also this year, Mrs. Hawaiʻi 2015 (and 2nd runner up in Mrs. America), Caroline Absalom, will be a special guest at the 13th hole.
The fundraiser features over $13,000 in prizes, benefiting Hale Kau Kau, which has been offering hot, nutritious meals to the hungry in South Maui since 1991.
Organization leaders say the program offers meals each night to 100-140 individuals who do not have resources to meet basic food needs. Hale Kau Kau also delivers hot evening meals to 70 to 80 home-bound elderly, ill and disabled residents on Maui. Last year, the organization reportedly served more than 57,900 meals.
The non-profit program operates out of Saint Theresa Church in Kīhei.
Event organizers say the upcoming tournament is a fun way to come together to be a part of the solution.
