LCM Announces Ice Sculpting Competition Winners

Ice artists from Japan and Hawai‘i went head-to-head Sunday, Nov. at Lahaina Cannery Mall’s annual International Ice Sculpting Competition.

Shunji Murakami from Japan took top honors for his impressive heart and eagle design, receiving a $900 cash prize. His name will be engraved on the event’s perpetual trophy, earning him a place in Lahaina Cannery Mall history.

The second place runnr=er-up was Darren Ho of Maui, who sculpted a dolphin and turtle piece.

The LCM event is the only annual ice sculpting competition in Hawai‘i.

Lahaina Cannery Mall is Maui’s only fully enclosed, air-conditioned shopping complex. Open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. (7 p.m. Sundays), Lahaina Cannery Mall is home to more than 50 shops and restaurants. The mall is located on the north end of Lahaina Town fronting Honoapi‘ilani Highway and Front Street.
