Kīhei Library to Hold Free Programs in January
Kīhei Public Library will offer free programs in the Children’s Area in January.
All children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
Toddler Storytime
Jan. 7, 14, 21, 28 (Thursdays), 10:30 a.m.
Children ages 1½ to 3 are invited to enjoy simple stories, songs, movement exercises and a fun craft in this 30-minute program.
Preschool Storytime
Jan. 8, 15, 22, 29 (Fridays), 10:30 a.m.
Children ages 3 to 5 are invited to hear simple stories, sing songs, learn movement exercises and a fun craft in this 30-minute program.
Family Movie Night: Inside Out
Jan. 12 (Tuesday), 6 p.m.
See Disney Pixar’s Inside Out, the story of a young girl whose mind possesses five personified emotions—Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger, and Disgust—that attempt to lead her through life while her family moves from Minnesota to San Francisco and adjust to a new life. Inside Out, featuring the voice talents of Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Bill Hader, Lewis Black and Mindy Kaling, is rated PG (parental guidance suggested). Free refreshments will be provided by the Kay A. Edwards Memorial Fund.
Discovering the Classics with Papa Lopaka
Jan. 13 (Wednesday), 3 p.m.
Join Papa Lopaka (Robert DeVinck), a writer, English literature scholar, and long-time reader of classic books, will present a dramatic reading of his Classics Illustrated comic book, Kim, by Rudyard Kipling, projected on a large screen. There will be a brief discussion, question-and-answer session, and Lopaka will encourage children to read the original book. This one-hour program is recommended for ages 6 to 12 and will include light snacks.
Pajama Storytime
Jan. 26 (Tuesday), 7 p.m.
Children ages 3 to 7 are invited to come dressed in their pajamas and fuzzy slippers (optional) and bring a teddy bear to enjoy an evening of stories and a wonderful time.
Wonderful Wednesday: Celebrate Books!
Jan. 27 (Wednesday), 3 p.m.
Children ages 5 and older are invited to celebrate books and their library by playing book Bingo, making bookmarks and restoring the beauty of books by cleaning book covers. All materials will be supplied.
Call the library as soon as possible if a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation is needed for these programs.
