The Maui Farm Recieves FLEX Grant

The Maui Farm Inc has been awarded a grant of $42,500 through the Hawai‘i Community Foundation FLEX Grants Program.

The grant supports The Maui Farm’s efforts to maintain a diversified funding base to sustain its residential and farm-based educational programs for the continued benefit of the Maui community.

FLEX grants are awarded to recognize high-performing nonprofit organizations throughout the state and to provide flexible support for both agency administration and program operations.

The grant award was funded by two of the foundation’s funding partners, the Robert Emens

Black Fund and the Kent & Polli Smith Family Fund.

“On behalf of The Maui Farm’s Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and the community members we serve, The Maui Farm gratefully acknowledges Hawaii Community Foundation for creating and maintaining the innovative FLEX Grants Program offering a critical source of unrestricted operating support for nonprofit organizations,” said Executive Director Paula Ambre. “We are also most grateful for the continued generosity of the Robert Emens Black Fund and the Kent & Polli Smith Family Fund, both of whom have been important supporters of The Maui Farm’s mission and programs throughout our twenty-plus year history of service.”

The Maui Farm provides farm-based, family-centered programs that teach essential life skills for self-sufficient living. The residential Family Strengthening Program serves Maui families who are homeless due to domestic violence and economic challenges, providing support towards self-sufficiency. Farm-based Educational Programs for the Community include support for school and community gardens, an employment and training program providing internships for youth and young adults, and volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups.
