State officials reopened a stretch of shoreline in Wailea on Sunday , Jan. 24, 2016, following a shark encounter on Saturday.

DLNR staff monitored the coast this morning and said no new shark sightings were reported in the area.

Ocean conditions were reportedly good with a small swell and a few murky areas.

Authorities with the state Department of Land and Natural Resources say hotels and the Wailea association security guards partnered with DLNR DOCARE to keep the public informed.

One lifeguard on a jetski patrolled the shoreline today and the coast reopened at noon with nothing sighted.

Authorities say warning signs came down at noon.

The incident comes following a separate shark sighting in Wailea last week.
