Dear Mr. Mayor,

Q: My wife and I will be visiting from Canada soon and will rent a car. We will be camping in our vehicle, and would like advice on whether the beach parks are open to overnight parking. Thank you for your time.

A: The best place to camp would be at a designated campsite; you can get a county camping permit at our district offices. Overnight parking at county beach parks is not allowed.

For information on camping permits, visit www.mauicounty.gov/Parks and click on “Recreation & Support Services Division,” then the “Camping Sites” tab on the left.
