Monsanto Makes Donation to Hawai‘i Nonprofits

Maui United Way and other nonprofits on O‘ahu and Moloka‘i received a total of $32,450 from the Monsanto Fund as part of the organization’s annual gift to communities across the country.

This year, Maui United Way received $14,650; the Aloha United Way on O‘ahu, $12,850; and $1,650 each went to Moloka‘i nonprofits—Molokai Ohana Health Care Inc., St. Damien Catholic Parish and Child and Family Service Moloka‘i.

“We’re thrilled to once again support Maui United Way and the important work they do for our community,” said David Stotzfus, Maui site lead for Monsanto Hawaii. “Many of our local families benefit from the health and human services they provide and we can’t thank them enough for the impact they make on people’s lives through these humanitarian efforts.”

For the past eight years, Monsanto has contributed over $120,000 to Maui United Way.

“Monsanto’s contribution will support the needs of 37 health and human service programs, targeting needs under the impact areas of education, income sustainability and health,” said Laksmi Abraham, president and chief professional officer of Maui United Way. “We are very grateful for their continuous support to Maui’s nonprofit organizations and appreciate their commitment to giving back to those in need.”

Maui United Way works to improve lives, motivate people to help others, increase resources to meet needs and inspire solutions to community problems. Last year, this nonprofit charity organization provided 65,493 services to those in need through the vital work of their 37 partner agencies.

The Monsanto Fund, the philanthropic arm of the Monsanto Company, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the farm communities where farmers and Monsanto Company employees live and work.
