Female Visitor from China Pulled from Twin Falls Pond

A woman visiting from China was pulled from waters at Twin Falls in Haʻikū on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the report at 2:31 p.m. and arrived at 2:51 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2016, to find bystanders performing CPR on the 21-year-old woman.

Bystanders searching the pond for the missing woman, found her submerged under water, below a waterfall, about a couple hundred yards mauka of the Hāna Highway.

Firefighters say the woman was unresponsive and without a pulse when bystanders began CPR.

Fire crews and paramedics took over life-saving efforts and carried the woman back to Hāna Highway after she regained vital signs.

The woman was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition.

Authorities say the woman was swimming at the pond with her husband when the accident occurred.
