Battle of the Badges: Maui Fire vs Police, April 30April 21, 2016, 4:36 PM HST · Updated April 21, 4:50 PM Wendy Osher · 0 Comments
Members of the Maui Police and Fire Departments will participate in a “Battle of the Badges” football game at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at War Memorial Stadium, as a fundraising event for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui.
Firefighters and police officers will compete for bragging rights, while they raise funds through t-shirt and ticket sales, with 100% of proceeds to benefit members of the BGCM.
Supporters are invited to purchase an event t-shirt and cheer on their favorite team–red for fire and blue for police. Shirts are $20 and anyone wearing one receives free entry into Saturday’s event. Shirts are available for purchase at the Kahului Fire Station or by contacting the Central BGC at (808) 242-4363.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for kids 12 and under, and are available for purchase at all clubs, at the Kahului Fire Station, or email [email protected] for details.
BGCM serves more than 9,000 Maui County youth annually through its six clubhouses located throughout Maui and with its outreach programs.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui, Inc., is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization that operates drop-in service facilities that provide “a safe, supportive, non-judgmental, nurturing and supervised environment where youth ages 9 to 17 years old can be themselves, experience positive role models and learn the values and skills that promote success.”
The Mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui is to: “inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.”
Not just after-school hangouts, organization representatives describe clubhouses as a “safe and positive place where young people come to have fun, learn, do homework, develop social skills, express themselves creatively, and participate in sports.”
“Our young members develop a sense of belonging and connection to the club,” organization leaders said. “At Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui, we believe that success is within reach of every young person who walks through the doors of our clubs.”
