Multi-Agency Transportation Planning Group to Hold First Meeting

The first policy board meeting of the Maui Metropolitan Planning Organization, or Maui MPO, is set for Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Planning Conference Room in the Kalana Pakui Building.

The agenda for the first meeting includes election of a chair and vice-chair, consideration of executive director and staff positions, and review and discussion of supplemental agreements related to the establishment of the MPO. Public testimony will also be accepted.

The Maui MPO is a transportation planning organization that was established to maintain federal compliance and provide Maui County with more decision-making power as it pertains to transportation planning and projects connected to the urbanized (Wailuku-Kahului-Pāʻia) area.

The Maui MPO policy board members are State of Hawaiʻi Director of Transportation Ford Fuchigami; County Councilmembers Elle Cochran, Don Couch and Stacy Crivello; Maui County Planning Director William Spence, Maui County Public Works Director David Goode and Maui County Transportation Director Don Medeiros.
