Maui Flood Advisory Expires:
The flood advisory that was in effect for Maui has since expired as of 4 p.m. The National Weather Service reports that weather radar and rain gauges showed that the heavy rains have ended, thus the flood advisory is allowed to expire.
Maui Flood Advisory Issued:
The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for the island of Maui until 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016.
At 1:34 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain with rainfall rates of at least an inch per hour over windward Maui.
Areas in the advisory include, but are not limited to Kahului, Kīhei, Lahaina, Paʻuwela, Waikapū, Kaupō, Haʻikū, Hāna and Makawao.
The public is reminded to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas that are prone to flooding. Motorist and pedestrians are reminded not to cross fast flowing or rising water in their vehicle or on foot.

Update:
The flood advisory that was in effect for the island of Lānaʻi in Maui County, expired at 1:24 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. The National Weather Service issued a statement saying the heavy rains that prompted the advisory have since ended.
