    Looking Ahead

    Moderate trade wind flow is forecast to stay in place through the weekend. Clouds and showers will focus mainly over windward and mauka spots, but an occasional shower could drift into leeward areas during the overnight and early morning hours.

     

    Today

    Partly to mostly cloudy with windward showers likely in the morning. Scattered windward showers during the day. Leeward spots should be partly sunny with isolated showers. East winds are expected from 15 to 20 mph. High temperatures from 83° to 88°.

    Tonight

    East winds are expected from 15 to 20 mph. Numerous showers for windward spots with mostly cloudy skies. Scattered showers are forecast for lee areas. Low temperatures from 70° to 75°.

    Malika was born and raised in Hilo. She began her career in news at KGMB9 in 2007. As a part of the Hawaii News Now weather team, Malika was nominated for two Emmy Awards for excellence in weather reporting and won the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Journalism Award for her reporting on Hawaii’s tsunami damage in 2011. In 2019, Malika was recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists Hawaii Chapter in the category of Science Reporting for her Big Island Now news report on what was happening beneath the sea surface at the ocean entry of the Puna lava flow.
