Q: There was a car accident on my street in Makawao last year, in which a fire hydrant was damaged and later removed. I’m worried because it has not been replaced since then, and if there is a fire,

I’m concerned that firefighters would not be able to access hydrant water in my area.

Who should I call?

A: You should call the 24-hour water service line (270-7633) to report the missing hydrant, because the county Department of Water Supply conducts the testing and maintenance of hydrants, not the fire department.

DWS would appreciate knowing about this missing hydrant for the same reasons as the concerns you expressed.
