Tropical Storm Darby Could Bring Rain / Winds

As of the latest CPHC update, Tropical Storm Darby is moving west near 13 mph with maximum sustained winds at about 50 mph. Slight strengthening is forecast over the next 48 hours. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 105 miles from the center of the system.

The latest forecast has part of the island chain within the cone of uncertainty this weekend. Tropical storms can bring heavy rains and increased wind speeds. We will monitor the latest forecasts and let you know how the system is expected to affect our weather in the coming days.

As we head into the weekend, our weather pattern will depend on the track and intensity of Tropical Storm Darby. Based on the current forecast, the east end of the state may experience the effects of Darby. This would mainly be in the form of increased rainfall and possibly stronger winds.
