A special election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016 to fill the vacancy in Hawaiʻi’s First Congressional District.

The announcement was made today by the Office of Elections upon issuance of a proclamation by Governor David Ige and Chief Election Officer Scott Nago.

This election will be held in conjunction with the regularly scheduled General Election on this same date.

Candidate filing for the Special Election runs from Aug.15-25, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. The candidate filing process allows qualified individuals to have their name appear on the ballot.

Those interested in being a candidate may obtain and file nomination papers at the Office of Elections.

To obtain an application for a nomination paper, and to view the proclamation go to www.elections.hawaii.gov.
