Flood Watch Issued Through Monday as Howard Approaches
A flash flood watch has been issued for all Hawaiian Islands for Sunday, Aug. 7, and Monday, Aug. 8, 2016.
The flood advisory remains in effect for Maui County until Monday afternoon.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service say abundant moisture associated with former Tropical Cyclone Howard will move east to west across the island chain Sunday and Monday.
According to a NWS report, an upper trough north of the area will dig southward on Sunday and cause the atmosphere to destabilize as moisture from Howard moves through.
The combination of the unstable atmosphere and the abundant moisture will bring a conducive environment for flooding rain and thunderstorms.
