Advisory Level Surf Expected This Weekend

A Small Craft Advisory is posted for the Pailolo and ʻAlenuihāhā channels as well as Māʻalaea Bay through 6 p.m. Saturday.
A High Surf Advisory is posted for east facing shores from 6 a.m. Saturday through 6 a.m. Sunday.

Maui Surf Forecast
North: Wave heights are expected to be around waist/chest/head high on the sets for spots around Hana.
West: Surf is ankle/knee high today. The best breaks could get up to knee/waist high out of the south-southwest. Chest/shoulder high on the sets.
South: Surf is around knee/waist high today. The best breaks could be a bit bigger from time to time.
Small south-southwest pulses linger into the weekend. Nothing significant through at least mid-month. Perhaps something will line up around the 16th.
Trade swell will hold steady. Tropical Storm Howard will generate some east swell that may bring wave heights above advisory levels for eastern shores. Sunday, sets could be occasionally overhead at the best exposures with the winds also weakening.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
