Quarterly Meeting Set for Maui’s 100 Men Who Care

The 100 Men Who Care group on Maui will hold their next dinner meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 7, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Mulligans on the Blue in Wailea.

Since its inaugural quarterly meeting held on July 7, 2015, organization leaders say the group has raised more than $20,000 in donations to help Maui nonprofits.

Women Helping Women was the most recent recipient to receive funds from the group.  WHW executive director, Stacey Moniz, will share with the group how the funds were able to help their program.

Inspired by other 100 Men Who Care groups throughout the world, as well as 100 Women Who Care groups, including one on Maui, the “100 Men Who Care Maui” group was formed.

Organizers say, “Its mission is simple: Bring together 100 men on Maui who care about local community causes.”

The group meets four times a year to jointly vote for a local charity or not-for-profit organization. Each member agrees to write a $100 check to the selected organization and watches how the group’s commitment turns into a $10,000 or more donation.

“The continued commitment and desire to help make our community a better place is incredible,” said founder Keith Regan.  “We’ve held four successful meetings and our group continues to grow and be energized. The impact a group of like-minded, community-oriented, and caring individuals can make is amazing. Our collective efforts have financially helped to support our local non-profits that work hard for our community,” said Regan.

Organizers say the group is for men who are committed to helping others in the community but are stretched for time and want to be part of a “powerful group making an immediate, direct and positive effect on the lives of our neighbors.”  According to group leaders, 100% of donations go directly to local charities.
