Q: From talking with friends, it is apparent that there have been a number of car break-ins at the Kahului Airport parking lot. What can be done to make this lot safer? Thank you.

A: According to our Maui District Airports Manager, new security measures are being implemented to deter crime at the airport parking lot, including patrols by undercover officers to watch for suspicious behavior and loitering, random driver’s license and car registration checks, and the installation of new lighting fixtures in the parking lot.
