3rd Annual Maui Paddle for a Cure, Oct. 1
The Third Annual Maui Paddle for a Cure takes place on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 at Hanakaʻōʻō Beach in West Maui.
This fun non-competitive event for stand up, kayak and canoe paddlers takes participants along the shoreline of Kāʻanapali Beach to raise funds for Susan G. Komen, Hawaiʻi affiliate to support their efforts in battling breast cancer through education, awareness, prevention and treatment.
The event also includes a community water activity and after party at Hyatt Regency Maui with Anuhea.
Presented by Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, Maui Jim, and The Butterfly Effect, Maui Paddle for a Cure has already raised almost $30,000 in funds, and has set a $50,000 goal for fundraising in 2016.
Organizers say 100% of registration and donations goes to support Susan G. Komen Hawaiʻi, with 75% of the money raised to stay in the state.
For those who cannot participate in the paddle, they can still set up their own fundraiser or donate to one of the many existing teams. Donations can be made online to Susan G. Komen Hawaiʻi.
According to event organizers, 1 in 8 women are diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime.
Registration begins on Sept. 25, and will close on Sept. 30 at 12 p.m. HST. On-site registration will NOT be available. After Party Tickets (admission only) will not increase and will be for sale at the door. After Party tickets $25. Tickets for children 12 and under are FREE.
“The Maui Paddle for the Cure, with inspired community and guest participation, fueled by this outstanding event, exemplifies this year’s Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure credo that ‘There Is A Hero In All Of Us’ as we celebrate breast cancer survivors, educate for breast health and support research to find the cures.” – Susan G. Komen Hawaiʻi
