Q: When are the absentee ballots going to be mailed in Maui? I checked the county website and didn’t see a date.

I need to go to the Mainland, but want to vote, so I am postponing leaving. A friend of mine is in the same position. A lot of people on Maui need to occasionally fly to the Mainland or elsewhere. It is much cheaper to make plane reservations if you make them a couple of weeks before departure.

A: Ballots are typically mailed out 20 days prior to the election, which for this General Election would be Oct. 19.
