Marcos Pascua
October 6, 1930 – October 11, 2016

Marcos Pascua, 86, of Lahaina, passed away on Oct. 11, 2016, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 6, 1930, in Lahaina.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at Norman’s Mortuary; prayer service will begin at 11:30 a.m.; burial will follow at 2 p.m., at Maui Memorial Park Cemetery in Wailuku.

Marcos was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator at Pioneer Mill.

He is survived by his wife, Apolonia Pascua; daughter, Lynette ( Neal Nitta ) Pascua; siblings, Hilarion (Pastora) Pascua – both deceased, Benigna Pascua – deceased, Hospicio – deceased (Estrella) Pascua; grandson, Jesse Kanoa Pascua; step-grandchildren, Noah (Kylee Phillips) Kauhane, Krystin (Elduard Gantan )Nitta; and step great-grandchild, Leiah Kauhane.

Gary Vincent
June 5, 1954 – October 7, 2016

Gary Allen Vincent, 62, of Waikoloa, was born in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi on June 5, 1954, and passed away on Oct. 7, 2016. Gary was a retired Police Officer and also owned Kartow Kohala.

He is survived by wife Debralynn; son Kevin (Nicole) Vincent of Waimea; daughter Lacey (Sidney Spencer) Vincent of Waikoloa; sister Terryanne (Daniel) Ireland of Waikoloa; father Allen (Martha) Vincent of Waikoloa; six grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Private services will be held at a later date.

Noah Duque Paz, Infant
October 6, 2016 – October 6, 2016

Noah Duque Paz (infant), passed away on Oct. 6, 2016, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 6, 2016, at Maui Memorial Medical Center.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 17 2016, at St. Theresa Catholic Church; mass will begin at 11 a.m.; burial will follow, 12:30 p.m., at Valley Isle Memorial Park Cemetery in Haʻikū.

Noah is survived by his Mother, Shirley Duque Paz; father, Norman Paz; and grandparents, Nereo Paz, Macrina Paz, and Amado Duque, Sr.

Cedric Smith
November 13, 1934 – September 28, 2016

Cedric Smith, respected physician and Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps (Retired Reserve), died at the age of 82, surrounded by his family on Sept. 28, 2016 in Kailua Kona, Hawaiʻi.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, he received his higher-education degrees, including his medical degree, at Trinity College Dublin. He first worked at Adelaide Hospital in Dublin and then moved to Cleveland, Ohio to pursue a residency in anesthesiology. Subsequently, he was appointed to the Department of Anesthesiology at the Veterans Administration Center in Los Angeles, California and became Assistant Chief of Anesthesiology thee as well as clinical instructor in anesthesiology at UCLA. Later, he served as chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at Mercy Hospital, Sacramento, California. He had licenses to practice medicine in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; the Republic of Ireland; and the states of Texas, Ohio, California, and Arizona. He became a U.S. citizen in 1967.
After joining the U.S. Air Force Reserve in 1986, Dr. Smith served in various medical capacities at Travis AFB, California; Brooks AFB, Texas; Ramstein AFB, Germany; and Hickam AFB, Hawaiʻi. In 1991, he served in Desert Storm and in 1992, he deployed to Costa Rica on a medical humanitarian mission. He retired in 1996 as Lieutenant Colonel in the USAFR Medical Corps.

Dr. Smith published several papers on anesthesiology and was a Fellow of the American College of Anesthesiology and a member of the American Board of Anesthesiology. Recognition for his military service included the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Meritorious Service Award, and the National Defense Service Medal for Desert Storm mobilization.

Dr. Smith is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Dr. Rosemarie A. Ferrer; three children – Edward, Susan and Michael; a granddaughter, Audrey Nixon; and a nephew, Brian Smith. Purchasing a house on Hawaiʻi Island in 1977, the Smiths fell in love with Hawaiʻi and became permanent residents in 1991. They took great joy in their retirement and contributed to the community in various ways. Dr. Smith served as President of the Kona Lions Club. A well-read, generous, and kind man, Cedric Smith will be greatly missed by his family and all who came to know him.

Private services will be held on October 21 with the interment of Dr. Smith’s ashes at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. May his soul rest in peace. IS BREA’ GAN DEIREADH, AMENE – LOVE WITHOUT END

September 1, 1941 – September 27, 2016

Dudley Clayton Hale, 75, of Kurtistown, HI, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Clayton was born on Sept. 1, 1941 in Long Beach, CA. No Services Held. He is survived by his niece Piper Pope; nephew John P. Hale; and sister-in-law Kristine Hale of Long Beach, CA. Arrangements by Ballard Family Mortuary-Hilo.

Charles Villalon, 61, of Kula, passed away on Sept. 27, 2016 on Maui. He was born on Oct. 13, 1954 in Honolulu.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Ballard Family Mortuary, Kahului; services will begin at 10 a.m.

Charles was a former Maui Police Officer, State of Hawaiʻi Department of Land and Natural Resources Enforcement Officer, and retired Zoning Inspector for the County of Maui.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn Villalon; children, Day (Steven) Mau, Lanui (Kim) and Chawn (Kahea) Villalon; grandsons, Steven Kaui Mau, Simon Mau, and Ka’imi Kaiawe Kekumu (along with his mother Lovelynn Kaiawe); sisters, Ku’ulei Villalon, Cheryl (Chuck) Salas, and Shawna (Maa) Vaivai.

Visitation will be held at St Theresa Catholic Church in Kihei on Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 from 6 to 9 p.m. with service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at St. Theresa Catholic Church from 9 to 11 a.m. with mass at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Valley Isle Memorial Park in Haʻikū at 1 p.m.

Mrs. Mendoza is survived by her husband, Eulogio Mendoza; mother, Rufina Fajardo; seven children, Marilyn (Victor) Bolosan, Tess (Rhey) Noriel, Elma (Eddie) Manzano, Lando (Marina) Mendoza, Efren Mendoza, Randie (Marilou) Mendoza, Loribelle (Robert) Villalpando,; eight grandchildren, Windell (Genalyn) Bolosan, Arvee Glenn Bolosan, Jayden Bolosan, Mark Alvin Ramento, Jerald Mendoza, Christine Mendoza, Alizeih Villalpando, Dreddin Villalpando; three great-grandchildren, Mark Genewine Bolosan, Sheikha Nonane Bolosan, Kierra Ramento; brothers, Alex (Lita) Fajardo, Emilio (Celia) Fajardo; sisters, Maria (Dominador) Cadiz, Florida (Carmelo Jr.) Butay. December 31, 1969 – September 25, 2016

The spirit of Rolf Werner Radtke, beloved brother, with his sister at his side and his brother in his heart, left his earthly body of age 75 on Sept. 25, 2016 and ascended into the universe where it always yearned to be.
