BasketballMAUI presents the inaugural Maui Jim Maui Classic hosted by Oregon State, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2 and 3, 2016 at the War Memorial Gymnasium.

This inaugural Women’s NCAA Division I College Basketball Tournament will feature Oregon State, coming off their Final Four appearance, and finishing 2nd in the nation.

Joining Oregon State will be Brigham Young University, University of Idaho and University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

The two-day tournament will feature two games per day, food trucks,  live entertainment by local and international recording artists, “The Voice” Season 6 Finalist Biff Gore, and ʻukulele musician Derick Sebastian.

Additionally, each day will conclude with a slam-dunk performance by 2011 Sprite LA Slam Dunk Champion, Kenny Dobbs. The public is invited to purchase $10 game-day passes online as well as view an up-to-date event schedule at basketballmaui.com.

During their visit, Maui Jim Maui Classic athletes will visit elementary schools across the island to emphasize the important role academics play in athletics. The athletes will be paired with elementary students and will spend one-on-one time reading to them.

BasketballMAUI’s mission is to provide youth the opportunity to prepare for success both on and off the court. Organization leaders say they are excited to offer aspiring athletes an opportunity to experience high level collegiate games and witness the benefits of hard work and dedication.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit local Parent Teacher Associations from participating Maui elementary schools, basketballMAUI sports programs and other local non-profit organizations.
