A Maui Red Cross volunteer is being deployed to Tennessee where raging wildfires have forced residents from their homes.

Maui’s Pamela Jones left last night to assist residents in the region with Health Services.  She is among a list of volunteers with the American Red Cross that are being deployed to assist with shelter, food, health services and damage assessments.

So far this year, the organization has responded to 15 large disasters across the country, that’s 50% more than last year.  In 2016, 24,000 American Red Cross disaster volunteers set up 600 shelters and served more than 3.6 million meals and snacks to those in need.

HOW TO HELP:  Help people affected by disasters like wildfires, hurricanes, floods and countless other crises by making a donation to Red Cross Disaster Relief.  Donations enable the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from disasters big and small across the United States. Visit redcross.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
