“Drive Aloha” Fair Highlights Distracted Driving Awareness Month
April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month and DTRIC Insurance and the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation are partnering to host interactive community fairs statewide to remind motorists about the importance of driving safely.
A Maui fair focused on driving with aloha and traffic safety takes place on Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23 at the Queen Kaʻahumanu Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both days.
At each of the events, the public can participate in experiences to better understand the dangers of distracted driving and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, as well as learn more about pedestrian safety and child passenger safety.
“DTRIC is honored to be teaming up with the state Department of Transportation in these community events,” said Michele Saito, DTRIC president and CEO. “The ‘Drive Aloha’ community fairs are a more interactive way to encourage people to be courteous drivers, embrace positive behaviors and practice the ALOHA spirit to make the road safer and friendlier for everyone.”
The other safety fairs scheduled in April include:
April 1: Prince Kuhio Plaza (Hilo), 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
April 15: Kamehameha Shopping Center (Kalihi) 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
April 29, Pearlridge Center (Aiea), 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
