Approximately 4,125 gallons of wastewater overflowed on Alamaha Street in Kahului on Monday, April 3, 2017.

The County of Maui Department of Environmental Management reports that the overflow occurred at 12:30 p.m. and was stopped by 1 p.m.

The overflow was caused by a grease blockage in the sewer mainline. The wastewater flowed from a clean-out located at 296 Alamaha Street and settled into a drainage ditch running along the back portion of the property. Department officials say no wastewater reached the ocean.
