This Saturday, April 29, 2017 marks one year since the state’s Department of Health awarded Maui Grown Therapies a dispensary license after achieving the state’s highest score in a merit based evaluation process.
In celebration of their first anniversary milestone, the company will host a public open house event with tours of the medical cannabis dispensary from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Nearly 200 guests toured the facility during the two previous Open House events held earlier this month at the dispensary, located at 44 Paʻa Street in the Maui Lani Village Center in Kahului.
Medical cannabis patients, caregivers, family members and those interested in cannabis therapies can walk through the dispensary and participate in a short presentation followed by a Q&A session.
“Our initial year in business has been marked by several firsts,” said Teri Freitas Gorman, Director of Community Relations & Patient Affairs for Maui Grown Therapies. “We were the first to receive a Medical Marijuana Dispensary License, the first to receive our Notice to Proceed with Cultivation, and the first to open a dispensary, so it’s fitting to celebrate our first anniversary with our Maui community to say mahalo for the great support.”
During the month of May, Maui Grown Therapies will host a number of educational events and dispensary tours by invitation to those who have signed up at the website.
The company has also started to recruit qualified employees to fill positions at its Kula cultivation site and its Kahului retail dispensary while awaiting opening of a certified laboratory for required product testing.
