2nd Kōkua 4 Kokonuts, Fundraiser Walk for Breast Cancer
Queen Kaʻahumanu Center and Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation announces the second annual Kōkua 4 Kokonuts, a fundraising walk for breast cancer scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 from 8 to 10 a.m.
Kōkua 4 Kokonuts is a fun walk through the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center that is appropriate for all ages and skill levels. A minimum $35 registration fee ($10 for keiki 12 and under) is all that is needed for walkers to receive an official event t-shirt, and to be entered to win prizes. Businesses and organizations are encouraged to create teams, collect pledges and walk together. Strollers and walking aids are welcome.
The event includes entertainment, keiki activities, a visit from Hello Kitty and more.
“Maui County has the highest rate of breast cancer in the State. Join us in saving lives and make a real impact in the fight against breast cancer in our community. All funds raised stay right here in Maui County for those in need – our mothers, sisters, aunties, daughters and friends,” said Toni Rojas, Queen Kaʻahumanu Center marketing director. “This year we are raising funds to purchase a Faxitron Surgical Imaging System for our community hospital’s operating room, specifically used for breast cancer biopsy measurements.”
Registration forms are available online, at the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center Guest Services desk and at the Maui Hospital Foundation website.
Community non-profit organizations that offer cancer related services are welcome to participate by providing an educational booth. Contact Michele Feorene, Queen Ka’ahumanu Center Event Coordinator at [email protected] or (808) 856-8109 for booth guidelines and information.
Kōkua 4 Kokonuts is sponsored in part by Queen Ka’ahumanu Center, Roselani Ice Cream, and Maui Soda and Ice Works, and supported by Koho Grill & Bar, The People Who Clean and Visitor Guides.
Sponsorship opportunities are available from $350 which include various recognition packages. Information on sponsorship, advertising and volunteer opportunities are available by contacting Lisa Varde, Executive Director of the Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation at [email protected] or (808) 242-2630 by Sept. 15, 2017.
