Maui Electric Energy Fair, Sept. 16

Maui Electric Company will present fun games, interactive displays, hands-on demonstrations and entertainment at the free Maui Electric Energy Fair on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center.

Company executives say the Energy Fair is a great opportunity for the entire family to learn and explore. “Take in live electrical demonstrations by our safety experts and learn how to prepare your family for a storm,” President of Maui Electric Sharon Suzuki said. “Bring the entire ‘ohana and see how electricity is made from various resources on our island or learn more ways to reduce your energy use.”

Back again this year is Maka, the Super Energy Saver mascot who teaches keiki how to be energy saving heroes that catch the energy villains lurking in their homes. The event will feature displays on renewable energy, power generation and distribution, and energy conservation and efficiency.

There will also be entertainment by Maui Zenshin Daiko, Maui Chinese Martial Arts Academy, Arlie-Avery Asiu and more. Meet with community partners who join in Maui Electric’s mission in making Maui County better when it comes to clean, reliable and affordable energy – Auwahi Wind Energy, Hawaiʻi Energy, Maui Economic Development Board’s Island Energy Inquiry, Maui High School and Lihikai Elementary’s Robotics Clubs, County of Maui Department of Water Supply, Save Our Seabirds, Maui Science Center and Pacific Biodiesel.
