Hospice Maui to Offer Suicide Grief Support Group

Hospice Maui will offer a six week suicide grief support group every Thursday starting on Oct. 5 through Nov. 9, from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

Hospice Maui says losing a loved one to suicide is a painful experiences and the feelings of loss, sadness, and loneliness experienced after any death are often magnified in suicide survivors by feelings of guilt, confusion, rejection, shame, anger, and the effects of stigma and trauma.

The Hospice Maui team is comprised of nurses, social workers, bereavement counselors, spiritual counselors, home health aides, volunteers and Hospice’s Medical Director who works directly with the patient’s primary care physicians, the patient, and family itself.

The group provides services that support both patients and their families and allows patients to live each day to the fullest, with meaning and purpose, in accordance with their deeply held values and beliefs.
