Looking Ahead
Locally breezy trade winds will gradually ease today, with clouds and showers mainly over windward slopes. Winds will weaken and shift out of the southeast on Saturday then to the south over most of the island chain on Sunday as a front approaches the area from the northwest. Humid and hazy weather with land and sea breezes will develop over most areas, while clouds and showers will favor interior portions of the islands during the afternoon and evening hours. The front will stall near Kauai on Monday and Tuesday, then trade winds will eventually build back by the middle of next week.
Today & Sunday
We expect variable winds up to 15 mph today. Partly sunny skies are forecast with isolated windward showers and scattered afternoon showers in leeward and interior areas. Temperatures up to 85° to 90° and feeling warmer with the higher heat index. On Sunday, we expect hazy skies with scattered showers and partly cloudy skies.
UV index at 10 (“very high” exposure level)
Tonight & Sunday Night
Partly cloudy skies with isolated showers for windward spots. Leeward spots will likely see scattered showers and clearing as the land breeze takes hold. Low temperatures from 71° to 76°. Winds are expected to be light and variable. Sunday, we expect the same conditions.
