NO Tsunami Threat After Preliminary Magnitude 5.6 Quake at Kilauea Summit

There is no tsunami threat to Hawaii after a preliminary magnitude 5.6 earthquake reported at 4:07 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in the summit region of the Kīlauea Volcano on Hawaii Island.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: An ash plume has been detected traveling to the southwest. Those in the area on the Big Island are advised to avoid ash by staying indoors.
The resulting ash plume reached 10,000 feet high and may affect the surrounding areas. The wind is blowing in the southwest direction and ash fallout may affect the areas of Volcano and Pahala.
