Seabury Hall Alumni Association Awards $13,500 in Scholarships

The Seabury Hall Alumni Association awarded six Rising Senior Scholarships to members of the Class of 2019 of Seabury Hall.

The purpose of the Rising Senior Scholarship is to encourage and reward students who have demonstrated leadership, fulfilled their academic potential, and served their communities.

The annual Seabury Hall Golf Tournament, presented by the Browning Family, and coordinated by the Seabury Hall Alumni Association generates money for the alumni endowment fund, Seabury Hall athletic programs, and the Rising Senior Scholarship program.

Scholarship recipients were Lucy Dustman, Lona Girardin, Jessica Griffiths, Kalena Pfaeltzer, Taylor-Ann Takatani, and Bryce Tarpey.  SHAA distributed a total of $13,500 to students.

Kalena Pfaeltzer, one of the scholarship recipients said, “I wouldn’t be able to receive the education I do without the help of the donors and participants of our annual golf tournament; thank you to everyone (especially the alumni committee) for allowing me to further my education and giving me the resources I need to prepare for college.”

Applicants for this scholarship must submit a written application to the scholarship committee, which conducts personal interviews with scholarship finalists.

Event Chair Ryan MacLaughlin said about the tournament, “The underlying goal is to provide families without the financial means to send their children to arguably one of the premier college preparatory academies in the state. Our appreciation goes out to the many local businesses, volunteers, families, and alumni who are responsible for its ongoing success.”

The 24th Annual Seabury Hall Golf Tournament will take place on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Wailea Emerald Course.
