Kickoff of 2018 Aloha Classic Maui Windsurfing Contest

The 2018 Maui Aloha Classic windsurfing competition will be kicking off this weekend and will run through Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at Hoʻokipa Beach for a $10,000 prize.

On Saturday, Oct. 27 a check-in and registration event will be held at Rock & Brews in Pāʻia, Maui from 5 to 9 p.m. The address is 120 Hāna Highway, Pāʻia, HI 96779.

Contestants are encouraged to register online or in person at Rock & Brews. All competitors must pick up their rider’s pack at Rock & Brews on Saturday.

On Sunday, Oct. 28 at 9 a.m. the event’s official opening ceremony will begin Hoʻokipa Beach Park. Everyone is invited to participate in the ceremony which will include a Hawaiian blessing, a speech from Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa, and hula performances.

Sunday evening, a memorial ceremony will also be held at Hoʻokipa at 5 p.m. in loving memory of Mike Colee, an active member of the tour and the professional windsurfing community.
