Body of Texas Visitor Pulled from Pond at Kailua, Maui

The body of a visitor was pulled from a pond at Kailua in East Maui on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018.

The victim was reportedly swimming with a female companion across a murky pond when he went missing.


Maui firefighters responded to the incident along the Bamboo Forest Trail at around 2:23 p.m.

When firefighters arrived on scene, search efforts commenced and the man was eventually located on the bottom of the pond in approximately six feet of water, according to Maui Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro.

The victim, described as a 28-year-old man from Texas, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
