Haleakalā National Park on Maui will waive entrance fees on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018 in honor of the memory of former President George H.W. Bush.

The day has been designated as a National Day of Mourning in honor of the 41st president of the United States.

Haleakalā National Park will waive entrance fees for all park visitors. Visitor centers, campgrounds, and restrooms will be open. Sunrise reservations are required for sunrise viewing at the summit.

National parks are reminders of the American values, ideals, and freedoms. Dozens of national park units, including birthplaces, homes, and monuments, commemorate the service of American leaders, including many US presidents.
