A grand opening ceremony takes place this weekend for the new HMSA Center in Kahului.  The 4,200 square-foot center is a one-stop shop dedicated to improving the health of HMSA members and the Maui community.  It is located in the Puʻunēnē Shopping Center near Target.

The grand opening will take place on Saturday, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature a health education fair, activities for keiki and a giveaway trip to a family-fun resort in Ko Olina on Oʻahu.

“We’re excited to open the HMSA Center at Kahului,” said HMSA President and CEO Michael Stollar. “The center will support the health of our members and the community with classes, workshops, and modern technology while delivering the outstanding service that members expect and deserve.”

The center will host:

  • Workshops catered to new parents, including birthing and breastfeeding, infant CPR, and gestational diabetes.
  • Community health resources such as flu shot clinics, diabetes education classes and health education workshops, along with cooking classes and social events for young adults.
  • All classes and workshop will be open to the public, both HMSA members and nonmembers.

In addition, HMSA staff at the center can help people navigate the complex health care system, pay their bills, and shop for an HMSA health plan.

The center’s normal hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Kahului location is the fourth HMSA center in the state. Other HMSA centers are located in Honolulu, Pearl City and Hilo.
