The Maui Fire Department responded to a call to assist a male and female kayaker near Molokini at 11:51 a.m. on Sunday, March 3.

The kayakers set off earlier from Black Sand Beach and were unable to fight the current back Maui.

With the assistance of lifeguards on a rescue watercraft from Mākena and the Coast Guard from Mā‘alaea, MFD personnel were able to retrieve two kayakers along with their kayak.
