New Executive Chef Eric Purugganan has reinvigorated the menu and crafts his take on ‘island inspired’ farm-to-table specialties. Hailing from the great state of Alaska and bringing a diverse and well-rounded culinary repertoire, Eric’s passion for creating distinctive dishes began at an early age helping out with his family’s catering business. Some of Purugganan’s fondest memories include creating recipes and cooking with his father, whom he acknowledges as his greatest inspiration. He attended the Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon where he worked at many notable restaurants and mentored under several of the city’s best chefs.

In 2013, Eric began his culinary journey through the Hawaiian Islands starting on Kauai at Westin Ocean Resort Villas, then onto the renowned Merriman’s in Kapalua and Merriman’s Waimea. Back to the island of Maui in 2016 to take a position of Sous Chef at The Mill House, Purugganan was named Executive Chef at The Plantation House Restaurant in late 2018.

Chef Eric’s creative twist on Hawaiian Regional Cuisine is perfectly complimented by Restaurant Sommelier Claudio Giordano’s curated extensive wine list from regions around the globe, which includes a robust by the glass program and signature large format offerings. Chef’s signature dishes include Smoked Kona Kampachi Crudo hearts of palm, lemon, radish, avocado and dill, along with the Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi with garlic green beans, romesco, charred onion.

The Plantation House also offers unique indoor and outdoor space for hosting a variety of events from an intimate dinner party in the open-air dining room or an extravagant cocktail reception on fairway lawns. The culinary team will create custom menus to pair with our extensive wine list. Whether you’re planning a destination wedding from afar or a large local celebration, The Plantation House provides a beautiful island backdrop for your special day.

The Plantation House is open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. For information or reservations, call 808-669-6299 or visit The Plantation House website.
