Maui Firefighters Extinguish Kīhei Brush Blaze

Maui firefighters responded to reports of a brush fire in the area of Liloa Drive at Pi‘ikea Avenue in Kīhei on Tuesday, March 5, 2019.

Fire units from Kīhei, Wailea and Kahului responded.

Upon arrival, crews found an area of brush and kiawe approximately 50-by-100-feet actively
burning.

Fire crews were able to contain the fire within a half hour, and the blaze was officially declared extinguished at 2:30 p.m.

Goodfellow Brothers water tankers in the area at the time, assisted crews with this firefighting effort.

There are no reported injuries or damage to property.

The cause of this fire is undetermined.
